Non positive locking clutches and brakes

Based on the multiple-disc friction principle, this product range covers hydraulically operated multi-disc clutches, hydraulically released spring-applied multi-disc brakes and multiple-disc safety / start-up clutches, with torques from 16 to 250,000 Nm — in wet or dry operation, in standard or special designs, adaptable to gearbox-integrated installations, pulley connections or cardan-shaft connections.

structure

3.1 Hydraulically operated multi-disc clutches

• For mounting in gearboxes (wet operation), axial or radial oil feed

• For connecting between shaft and v-belt pulley (dry operation), axial oil feed

• Torque range 25 – 150,000 Nm

3.2 Hydraulically released spring-applied multi-disc brakes FDLB, LB

Working principle: the braking force is generated by compression springs and the brake is released hydraulically by venting the piston; suited for wet and dry operation. A mechanical emergency release is provided in case of pressure loss, so the conditions for a safety brake are met. The steel / sintered-bronze friction pairing delivers high operating safety and low maintenance.

• Types: A (cover plate closed, with flange), B (cover plate open, with flange), C (cover plate closed, without flange), D (cover plate open, without flange), E (no cover plate, without flange), I (inner body)

• Torque range 16 – 250,000 Nm; sizes 6.3 – 250

• Release pressure: the brake lifts at 15 – 38 bar when starting the hydraulic motor, thereafter the full system pressure up to 320 bar is applied

• Applications: versatile use in stationary and mobile drives, with or without hydraulic motors

• Standard safety factors: 1.5 (fans, conveyors, textile machines, generators); 2.0 (lifts, mixers, cranes, machine tools, winches); 2.5 (drilling rigs, excavators, hoists, mills, vibrators); 3.0 (ball mills, piston compressors, rolling mills, centrifuges)

• Special designs: two cardan-shaft connections with inner-body storage, inner-body storage, through-flow disc package (running brake), double design and more

3.3 Multiple disc safety and start-up clutches LASI, LAAN

Working principle: frictional connecting elements that limit the torque to be transmitted and thus protect the driving and driven machine against overload. When overload occurs, the clutch slips with the dynamic friction torque (= nominal torque) and reattains the static friction torque after the slipping process is over.

• Torque range 25 – 25,000 Nm; the smallest adjustable dynamic friction torque is 40% of the nominal torque, adjustable between 40 and 100%

• Type S (multiple-disc safety clutches, without bearing support): casings E (internal flange, open), G (internal flange, closed), D (external flange, open), F (external flange, closed); usable for wet and dry running

• Type A (multiple-disc start-up clutches): bearing supported, closed, for wet running; A5A suitable for installation in gears and pulleys, A5B outer body can be provided with spur-gear toothing or belt profile

• Friction lining: sintered bronze (wet running) or pressed fibre material (dry running); permissible ambient temperature -25 to +75 °C

• Special designs: flange-shaft design, shaft-shaft design with self storage (combinable with flexible coupling and brake drum), flange-flange design and more
